Dear Champions,

There are a lot of you...  some working on your Black Belt, others your 1st and 2nd Degrees.  Your Test basically begins Now and I’m very proud of each and every one of you!

Here's the spot in the past where I've tried to post something to motivate you or help you get through the next 8 weeks.  This time I just want to make sure you truly understand what a Black Belt Really is!

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Wearing a Black Belt does not mean you are invincible... It means you never gave up, worked past the pain, overcame the disappointments, didn't cave into your doubts, faced your fears and learned enough to realize how little you actually know.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

As you post here each week understand all the people behind you that you are inspiring.  And realize all the people around you that are cheering you on!

THIS IS YOUR TDS BLACK BELT TEST

TRAIN WITH DISCIPLINE!  TREAT YOUR TEAM, OPPONENTS, INSTRUCTORS AND JUDGES PANEL WITH RESPECT AT ALL TIMES.

SOME OF YOU WILL PASS... PASS WITH HUMILITY.
SOME OF YOU WILL FAIL... FAIL WITH GRACE.

IF YOU DO FAIL THEN GET BACK TO THE DOJO AND TRAIN EVEN HARDER AND SMARTER.  YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIKE FAILING, BUT YOU DO HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT FAILING IS A PART OF LEARNING.

"THE WINNER ONLY REMEMBERS THE WIN.... WHILE THE LOSER STUDIES AND ANALYZES THE FIGHT SO AS TO DO BETTER NEXT TIME!"

Best of luck to all!

Strength,

Seh Ssung

  1. I am both humbled and excited upon the start of my black belt boot camp journey. From the sideline I've watched my kids do boot camp multiple times, and now after almost three years of training I get to join in the experience! I am certain I will learn a lot about myself over the next several weeks. Along the way, I will offer my support and encouragement to my classmates, and I will welcome their positive energy and well wishes for my success as well. I will choose to be my best with what I have been afforded, for it is my choice to make. This is my inspiration and muse.

  3. This is Colin, I couldn't log into my email so I am posting under Debbie's name. I can't wait to test for my 2nd Degree. I am practicing and preparing myself every day for this text. I am almost done with my creative form and can't wait to practice it at the tournament. I know this bootcamp and test will be hard, but I am up for the challenge!

  4. I can't believe it's almost time for another bootcamp. Messing my back up before summer vacation has put me back a bit in my preparing for the running part of bootcamp, but I am on the mend and ready to get my run time back under 8 minutes. Lots of Jr. Black Belt Candidates thus time around, so hopefully we can inspire them and help them be successful in their journey.

  6. I felt strong at today's physical test, and I feel confident knowing that boot camp is around the corner. I am grateful for my decision as a yellow belt to come out and do the physical test and to then keep doing it consistently for each belt test. Three years ago I would never have considered myself to be a good runner or to be in good physical shape, but looking back I realize I have made consistent improvement over time. Through boot camp I will keep pushing myself to beat my personal best numbers.

  7. Sunday: fitness test before boot camp starts. I feel ready. I had been training, ready to get my mile done and under 8 minutes. I know I can. But after a week of no training and being sick, I take my two chances and miss it by one lap each time. It was a terrible feeling but I know that I can do it. I will pass it. I felt a little down after the end but I look forward very much to when boot camp starts. I did however hold my whole 5 minute plank. I look forward to more training and getting stronger.

  8. At the fitness test I felt strong and that I tried my best. Although I didin't like the mile it was tiring but if I practice more it will become easy. I look forward to bootcamp and as long as I practice my hardest I can make the fitness tests easy and I will do the same for bootcamp.

  11. I am glad that I started practicing for the physical tests as a yellow belt, because I now consistently run a 7.30 ish. I am a little nervous about testing for my second tab, but my brother is going to help me practice. I think it is fun that my dad is testing too.

  21. The first boot camp was awesome, as it always is... I was excited to see the new candidates (for Black Belt, 1st Degree, and 2nd Degree) and I'm really excited to train with everyone. My brother is catching up to me in the mile, which means I need to work harder... I won't let him pass me! I can also see how much out of shape I am all-around the board, so I need to work on getting back into shape. I'm working hard to earn my first tab this cycle.
Oh yes, before I forget: Here's what the electrolyte mixture Seh Ssung was talking about is comprised of:
    -Blueberries
    -Oranges
    -Cucumbers (sliced)
    -Bananas (sliced)
Put them all in a bag, mix it up, and freeze it the Friday night before Boot Camp and then teh next morning, ta-da! It's all ready for you to go. Bring a spoon to eat it with. Believe me, I've tried this, and it's amazing.

See everyone in class on Wednesday, and way to start strong! :)

  22. Just finished my first ever boot camp :). It was tuff but I made it through. It was a little tiring (and a great new experience :) but I tried my hardest and had lots of fun. I am excited for next week! Hope to see everyone there. :)

  23. Today was the first day of the winter boot camp, and I ran the mile, but I didn't succeed in doing it under eight minutes. This means that I am out of shape and need to go running more often :) that bag we dragged practically weighed almost as much as me! I was surprised to see all the new candidates trying out for a black belt! Good luck to them all!

  24. Today's first boot camp was an amazing experience. I have watched my kids do boot camp several times, and I have eagerly anticipated getting to participate with them. The variety of skills we covered was challenging, especially having to remember curriculum from several different cycles. It was great to feel the encouraging energy from my classmates, and it felt good to support them as well. My favorite part of today's boot camp was partnering with my daughter, Emma, during tiger fight set. Also, it was really fun doing the partner line drills bare foot in the grass. Overall, my first day of boot camp was physically and emotionally exhilarating and energizing, the realization after many months of training.

  26. This was a great way to start off a new boot camp! I know I'm going to be sore tomorrow. Excellent job to all of the black belt candidates and my fellow first degree candidates. I can't wait for the next one. Good luck to you all!

  27. This is Dylan Murphy. I thought my first boot camp was tiring but fun. I am looking forward to next Saturday. The biggest challenge for me was carrying the bag around the track, but I think I will get better.

  28. One down five more weeks to go. I will say the first one was a lot of fun. I felt ready for anything that we had to do. My body is feeling it the next day though. I am so proud of everyone. The candidates did awesome for their first boot camp! Keep up the hard work and I look forward to see what next Saturday brings!

  30. This is Thomas Saliba. My first boot camp was challenging but fun at the same time. I got a 7:21 mile, one second faster then the most recent fitness test. The most challenging part was carrying the bag around the track.Thank you for all the help with the bag Mr. Pavel and Mike. My left shoulder is still sore. I predict this will be the most challenging boot camp because I had hardly any idea what to expect. I am looking forward to the next boot camp.

  31. The first boot camp was fun but tiring, it taught me what i need to practice and how exausting the black belt test will be. Today Im sore and tired but I will work through it and I look forward to next saturday.

  32. This is Robert Saliba. My first boot camp was very challenging. I think boot camp helped improve my fitness. The most challenging part was running the mile because i'm not very good at running. I 'd like to thank the black belts who helped me to get through boot camp. I think that boot camp will help me prepare for my biack belt test andi look forward to the next boot camp.

  33. Hello all! I was very disappointed in myself for the first day of boot camp. I was dizzy and sick, and certainly not as self-disciplined as I have been in the past. This has only steeled my resolve to train harder on my own in order to stay strong for the team. To everyone else - well done to you all! Keep training hard, and you will do great! This week, I have set up an updated version for my running schedule. I have been running regularly, but it has not improved me, so much as maintained. I shall run earlier in the morning (likely before school, either out on the track, or at home on the treadmill) in order to be more equipped for the conditions of boot camp. I am also reviewing all sets and forms, techniques, etc. My suggestion for candidates this cycle - This has helped me significantly in the past: When I am not doing anything important, but I cannot get up and perform a karate form, I run through forms in my head. I know that I truly know a form when I can run through it in my head, forward, backwards, opposite side, etc.

Good luck to you all! Continue training hard!
    I believe!

  36. My legs muscles were talking to me all day today, a distinct reminder of yesterday's boot camp. I'm focusing on this next week of training with boot camp #2 in mind. My goal is to maintain my flexibility and improve my muscle recovery the day after. Everyone's energy and encouragement make a difference. I believe!

  37. Wow! I am so glad that we all made it through the first day of Boot Camp. I can't believe that this is my fourth time doing this! It was awesome seeing my dad out there. I enjoyed running with my dad in the group of seven. My goals for this boot camp are to increase my endurance and to solidify those forms in my head. Trying to balance karate and soccer has been hard, but soccer season is almost over and I can focus even more on karate.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The first boot camp was by far the most interesting. I enjoyed seeing the candidates power there way through the obstacles in their way like pro's. But by far my most favorite part was helping those candidates. Since it's their first boot camp, and set of boot camps they really need that support structure that's so crucial. So really all that means is that my favorite part was encouraging everyone to try their best and to not give up. I'm looking forward to all the challenges that lay ahead.

  39. In the wise words of Bruce Lee, and I quote "If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limit, there are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." Wise words from a wise man. Remember to never give and that you can break any limit that comes your way and surpass it.

  40. Wow! Boot camp is really fun and tiring. It's really inspiring to see all the candidates and black belts trying their hardest out there. I am really looking forward for all the next boot camps. After a day later from having boot camp, my shoulders feel like they're carrying weights but I really enjoyed it and I hope I can push myself even harder over the next boot camps.

  47. Another great boot camp this morning! I'm reminded that I need to learn the 7-count and 9-count combos. I think my daughter (Emma) enjoyed sweeping and flipping me over during cobra fight set. Having to go fetch a cone, come back with it, balance it in our head while doing combos, then run it back was a great strategy for having us maintain focus. And what a challenge to bear crawl all the way back to grab a cone and return with it! My leg muscles were really locking up towards the end of boot camp, and I was having difficulty walking afterwards. Maybe doing Kravfit yesterday morning plus also doing last night's Krav class didn't allow my muscles to recover. So I went out and bought a high density foam roller. Now my muscles are thanking me for listening to them and taking care of them. If you have achy muscles with knots in them, I highly recommend you try a foam roller. Way to go everyone today! I believe!

  48. It was so fun to do Cobra Fight Set with my dad! I need to focus on doing my best and not being overwhelmed by my environment (yucky wet grass) at boot camp. I told Bryan what he was missing out on while he is in Disneyland with the Woodcreek band. I am practicing and working hard for the black belt test. We can do it!

  50. I think that this weeks boot camp was tiring, but I did better this time than last week. I would like to thank everyone that encouraged me to keep going. The hardest thing for me was getting the cones by bear-crawling.

  54. This week's boot camp was fun! I succeeded in running the mile under 8 minutes.
It was kinda gross when we were being dragged or having to do the shrimp and army crawl in the mud, I was soaked in muck and grass during the first 5 minutes of starting that.
I hope next weeks boot camp will be just as fun and challenging as this one.
    Good Luck everyone!

  59. This is Amanda, with a funny story about frozen bananas. I had sliced some and laid on a cookie sheet to freeze for the kids' next boot camp snack. Then Aaron and the twins went to scout camp. I went to the garage freezer to bag them up and the entire tray was missing! The guys were at a State Historic Park with no cell reception for 2 nights so I couldn't call to ask what happened to my bananas! When they came home today, I asked and found out that they were removed from the freezer when Aaron got ice bottles for the cooler and he forgot to put them back in. They were on the side of the garage, all weekend, stinky, rotten bananas, eeew! I'll have to buy some more to cut and freeze for the kids for next weekend.

  60. Yesterday, Boot Camp seemed less tiring than last Saturday's. Although... I couldn't do as well this boot camp since I had participated in a Tri(athlon) for Fun for my Physical Education class the day before. Therefore, my whole body was a little sore from it. But it made Boot Camp all the more fun!
I agree, the most memorable part of this week's Boot Camp was the bear crawl to the cones. I remember the soccer players looking at us with weird faces and thinking, 'What are these kids doing? Some type of boot camp?' They even encouraged us a little. Lol :)
And after the Boot Camp, I went straight to dance class. So I definitely got my workout for that day! I felt more comfortable running that day as well.
See everyone at the next boot camp, and train hard!!!

  63. This boot camp was a bit tough one me as I was sick and I had sore throat. But it was also fun in many ways, like the shrimp and army crawl. The bear crawls were hard, and made me a bit sore.

  64. Boot camp was pretty good, got a little dirty and had some fun. Working on all those fight sets really a good opportunity to train extra hard and get in more practice. I'm glad that the candidates are starting to adjust to training in this type of chaos, or so to speak. Great work everyone and keep training hard.

  66. Everyone did a fantasmic job at bootcamp this week! Thank you to all those who cheered me, and others on! You really helped with the team spirit! This week, I am reviewing all my curriculum, but focusing mainly on forms, attempting to perfect them. It is always a work in progress, because we must maintain the level we are at once we get there. Like Seh Ssung says, "Once a Black Belt, NOT Always a Black Belt."

Continue training hard - you all are doing great!

  73. I thought the bear crawl was tough, but so am I, so I was proud when I got through it. I was sad that I couldn't stay for all of boot camp since I play tenor sax with the Silverado Middle School Marching Band. We were marching in the Roseville Holiday Parade today. So, while all of you were doing one more mile run, I was marching 1.5 miles through downtown Roseville with seven pounds hanging around my neck. Have a great Thanksgiving, and practice those kick sets and forms! I know I will!

    ReplyDelete
  74. What another beautiful morning for boot camp! I ran the mile in under 7 minutes today, but I'm still working to beat my personal best. I'm feeling more confident with kickboxing combos, and I'm getting better at 7-count and 9-count. It was particularly challenging doing kick sets from the opposite guard stance. Need to work on that. The palms of my hands keep reminding me of that one intense lap around the track #BEARCRAWLS!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Todays boot camp was great and its getting more fun for me. The bear crawl was hard, like last time, also the opposite kick sets were a bit tricky but I got over that. It was a great day and i'm glad I could do bootcamp today and have a happy thanksgiving everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Today, we didn't go all the way to 10:00 AM. That was because of the Holiday Parade some of us were participating in. Though many of us didn't see it coming, of course we would have a tough Boot Camp today! I unanimously agree that the most memorable (and painful) part of all of Boot Camp were the #bearcrawlsatbuljantrack. Man, my hands will probably STILL be red by Monday! But it will serve as a reminder that whenever we feel like quitting, the blisters and/or redness on our palms will show we've endured something much more harsh, and that if we were able to make it through that, then we can make it through the next obstacle we try to pass as well.
Other than that, the opposite kick sets woke up the right side of my brain today, a little! It was definitely a challenge. I think I got my workout for the week.
And hey, I gotta say this- one of the things I'm most thankful for is thatI am able to learn karate, as an under Black Belt and now, as a Black Belt. I will keep training hard with my brother, to better myself, himself and make use of this wonderful opportunity that we've been given.
Everyone train hard, have a happy Thanksgiving, and see everyone next Saturday to work all that dinner off! It's going to be a great week.

  77. Tom Saliba here. Today, I ran both of my miles under 8 minutes! Boot camp ended earlier than I expected. Even though the bear crawl was hard, I know it is going to make me stronger. My palms are still sore from the track but now I know I got stronger. Good job everyone. I look forward to next week. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

  78. This is Robert Saliba. Boot camp was very difficult this week. I did think that the bear crawl was fun but also hard at the same time. I'm going to do some practice miles this week to improve my mile time. Have a happy thanksgiving everyone, see you next week.

  79. Boot camp was rather refreshing due to the wet ground. :) I need to work on my bear crawls. I thought it was interesting how Sensei threw us a curve ball with the kick sets (different stances.) Other than that, every single candidate did amazing. I'm excited to see you guys next time.

  87. I'm terribly sorry that I wan't able to blog earlier but here it is. This boot camp left em worn and tired, more than almost any of the boot camps have left me before. But it was really good training and a great way to get us all stronger, especially that bear crawl around the track. We only have 3 more to go so everyone keep up the fantastic work.

  88. Sorry I couldn't be at the 3rd boot camp, I was out of town. I hope everyone had fun and trained there best, see you all next week. :)

    ReplyDelete
  89. This week I have been focusing mostly on the run. Ms. Debbie's suggestion of the treadmill is very helpful! To those who may also need it: Running on a treadmill at setting 7.5 is an 8-min mile, so being able to do that for longer and longer amounts of time will let you be under 8 minutes for the run.
Also - if you feel like your mouth is dry, and/or you can't swallow while you run - what helps is to drink a full glass of water an hour or so before you run. This will keep you hydrated throughout the run.

Stay strong, and continue to train hard! You are halfway there!

Have you heard of chaos theory or the butterfly effect? This refers to the idea that something like the minor flapping of a butterfly’s wings in Brazil can result in a tornado in Texas. Had the butterfly not flapped its wings, the results might have been vastly different. While the butterfly does not "cause" the tornado directly, it does "cause" it in the sense that the flap of its wings is an essential part of the initial conditions leading up to the end result. So in this theory, without that flap that particular tornado would not have existed at all...

You may have already figured out where I'm going with this in regards to martial arts… As instructors, our actions really do matter; all of them. Every decision we make, big and small affects our future and the future of our staff, students, parents and anyone else associated. That is a pretty big responsibility, isn't it? But I also believe it makes life simpler as well (I said simpler, not easier).

Having the awareness and mindset that everything matters helps us to shape our decisions both unconsciously and consciously. All we have to remember to do when we are faced with a challenge is to do what is right. While sometimes it is hard to know what’s right, more often than not we know, but just don't DO. So the next time you’re faced with a difficult decision, try not to think about the easiest solution, or the quickest solution. Instead, try to think about what is right and then try your hardest to do that. Because remember, everything matters and your actions today may have big results down the road, just like that butterfly flapping its wings.

What decision could you make today to start positive ripples in your life ?

  92. This week it was very cold outside. I tried my best and got under 8 minutes and Im glad. When we went to the dojo and started to break boards I felt confident and I broke the first board. I need to practice that and to condition my self for running in the cold. Im really excited for the board breaking and hope everyone does well on that and I think everyone did their best.

  93. Oh boot camp, I have had a pretty rough week and if I'm being honest I was not ready for this Saturday. Running is always a challenge for me but I was thankful for it this time. It helped me to zone out and relax and forget about my week. Unfortunately I did throw up with only half a lap to go. Urgh! Very frustrating. Breaks are always fun. My favorite part are the breaks. It's exciting and so rewarding once you do get threw that board. Another week down. It's getting closer and closer. Seems like time is flying by. Everyone keep up the great job!

  94. What a beautiful day, but cold. This was my first time running in 30 degree weather. I gotta get those kick sets down.
That board breaking was fun stuff.

  95. I did not do well on my run today. I am recording all my training on here now, so that I can have a journal of what I have done and what has worked/helped me get stronger. Later today, after I have rested a little from boot camp, Mom and I are going to the rec center to do the treadmill pacing. Tomorrow, I will be running for 8 minutes on the track or around my neighborhood and I will log on here how far I get. The next day, I will do the treadmill pace, the tension pushups, and the plank. Then, Tuesday, I will run for 8 minutes, etc. and so on. Every day, I shall record my numbers on here.

For everyone else, you are looking so strong! Keep Training Hard, and you can do this! You will do this!

  96. It was bitterly cold out there this morning! I was pleased to beat my last week's mile time. After the run, my fingertips were numb from the cold, and it wasn't until we were back at the dojo that the sensation returned! I can regularly knock out 70+ push-ups in a minute, but I want to make sure my form is correct and beat 80. The tension push-ups are awesome, and I'm challenging myself to lower myself for a count of at least 10 before exploding up on each one. I figure I should be doing about 6 of these per minute. I want to improve my plank so that I'm comfortable holding it for 5 minutes. Board breaking was awesome today. I missed breaking the one with my spinning hook kick, but since I kicked it out of the holder's hands, that tells me I need to be more precise with my technique and whip my heel around faster and more powerfully in order to crack the board. Everyone's encouragement is palpable and appreciated!

  97. On the treadmill today, I did a total of 3 sessions. The first session was 1 mile. I ran as far as I could (half a mile) with the 7.5 mph, then slowed down to 6.0 for a quarter mile. The last quarter, I ramped it up to 8.5, and felt pretty good, which tells me my recovery time is still in good shape. After a ten or so minute break, I did my second mile. This one, I did 7.5 for a quarter, then 6.0 for a quarter, then 7.5, then 6.0. Again, ten minutes, I did another (and my last) session for the day. This time, I did it for time rather than mileage. My goal was to do 7.5 for 3:20, then 6.0 for 3:20, then finish with 7.5 for 3:20 - going for a total of 10 minutes. I ended up running the first 3:20 with a 7.5 pace, then went for 5:20 with 6.0, and finished the last 1:20 with a 7.5 pace.

I am encouraged by my speedy recovery time, and I have confidence that I will be under 8 minutes in no time!

    Good luck to all!

  99. It was fun working on our breaks. Everyone did excellent on their mile. I'll have to remember the every-other-day blogging. I did 13 of those explosion push ups. I'll be sure to work that and the plank throughout the rest of bootcamp. I can't wait to see you guys next time.

  100. Tom Saliba here, I am over halfway done with boot camp! Today, I ran an under 8 minute mile in the cold. I went to the dojo at boot camp for the first time. I learned that I need to work on my breaks at home luckily, my dad ordered boards from the holiday sale. After boot camp, I did 19 explosion push ups in a minute and did plank for 5. I am looking forwark to next week.

  101. Today was pretty cold and it was a little hard to run in that kind of weather. I had fun practicing my breaks and I will keep working on my kicks as well as doing the explosive pushups an plank every other day. See everyone next Saturday :)

  102. I was glad we went to the dojo today and got out of the cold. I learned that I need to work on the breaks, which were harder to break than I thought. I'm going to continue working on the explosion push-ups and plank as well. Good luck everyone!

  103. This is Robert Saliba .Today boot camp was colder than usual which made the mile more difficult. After the cold, I was happy that we were going to the dojo. Today I learned that I need to improve on my breaks and push-ups. At home I did 13 explosion push ups in 1 minute and I did the plank position for 5 minutes with a little difficulty. I am looking forward to next week.

  104. During the fourth Boot Camp of this winter Black Belt cycle, I, along with everyone else, during these Boot Camps, have faced many challenges. Among the challenges I found particularly was the run this morning in the frosty cold. I am glad I got to review the kicks for Black Belt breaks, even if I only kicked bags and the air. Like how Seh Ssung said that we should practice planks, exploding push-ups, and running for the Black Belt Test, I have already set a goal for myself: beat seven exploding push-ups (which I did in one minute today after Boot Camp) and for me to stop putting my knee down on planks (I did a 5-minute plank after Boot Camp today). Since I can consistently get my mile under eight minutes (and then some), I do not feel the need to work on my running as much since I have it mastered after practicing for so many years. Good luck to everybody for the rest of the Boot Camps, the Black Belt test, and all other Black belt craziness!

  105. At the track today, I ran for 8 minutes to see how far I would get. I made 0.95 of a mile, according to my tracker app (About 4.75 of the 5 laps we run). I am very happy with this, as I did not puke! :P I am confident that I will be back to my usual time soon!

Good luck to all! Continue to train hard, and remember that everyone is on your side!

  106. OK, I know we were supposed to wait until tomorrow to do the plank, but I just had to go for 5:30 and I did it. I will go for six minutes tomorrow so I will be easily ready to do it during the test. Hopefully it will be so easy that I can take a 5minute nap during that part of the test.

  107. Push-ups are fun for me, and this afternoon I did 65 in a minute. I'm usually more energetic in the early morning and evening, so I'm not too surprised I didn't do more. Then I did 7 explosion push-ups in a minute. After that I did a 5-minute plank. Knowing that I have that plank coming, I tend to hold on to reserve energy during push-ups so I can pace myself.

I took a break from training last week, so tomorrow morning's 5:00AM Kravfit class will definitely wake me up! Then I'll be back to my morning/evening routine of Krav-in-the-dark classes. I believe!

  108. this boot-camp short, yet very sweet and helped me out a lot. I didn't do so great on my run because of that cold weather but that can be fixed with some training in the cold. My push-ups at the dojo i think where pretty good, the the plank came along and that I have in the bag. Started on my push-up work. I hit 45 i one minute, 13 explosion push-ups in one minute and held a 3 minute plank. Keep up the good work everyone, only 2 left.

    2. I am re-posting this again since I had to edit some things:
This was the coolest boot camp by far. I mean it quite literally (and also figuratively)! I ran the mile in the freezing cold, and at first, it felt a little brutal. To combat this, I remembered one of my favorite characters from a certain show and thought about how this was nothing for him, how his element was ice. By thinking about something else, I made it through with my normal time.
The board breaks were a good refresher- not that I did any actual breaks, of course. But refreshing myself on the flow of these breaks definitely helped me. The push ups though they most certainly were tough! I need to work on my form, primarily, as well as my core strength. I will definitely be blogging those explosion push ups and my plank. I have a busy week ahead of me.
Keep strong everyone- I'm looking forward to the next boot camp. Learn from yesterday, live in today, prepare for tomorrow. That's my motto.

The candidates just need to keep practicing and work on their kicking form and push ups. Everybody please dress warm next bootcamp, its bound to still be chilly next Saturday!

  113. My wife and I showed up to the dojo for the 5:00AM Kravfit class today, but evidently it has now been cancelled. I'm disappointed because the early morning class worked well for my family's routine and for my training goals. I really counted on the regular Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning classes to help condition my body for physical stress which would prepare me for Saturday boot camps. Also it has been an important way for me to share my Krav experience with my wife since she has participated in each of the morning Kravfit classes with me, as the other times don't fit her routine.

I hope that there will be greater interest in the community for an early morning Kravfit class and that it returns to the regular schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  158. It was indeed another great boot camp today! It was so much fun to engage in strong teamwork building as we carried and dragged the heavy bags. A real challenge with this activity seemed to be figuring out how to place ourselves along the bag so that the weight was sufficiently distributed among the members of the team.

Working our push-ups and planks using a variety of techniques was an effective strategy for preparing us to be stronger for doing them the usual way.

I surprised myself that my third mile time was faster than my second one. Evidently I still had plenty of fuel left in my tank. I really enjoyed running alongside Emma during mile #4.

I've really appreciated earning the opportunity to participate in boot camp. I'm sort of sad that there's only one more Saturday boot camp left. I have felt the support and encouragement from my teammates along the way, and I'm going to soak up every moment and continue to enjoy the journey through next week and on into the black belt testing week.
